Denise Baquiran
Denise BaquiranSecond Grade
Mrs. Baquiran was born in Los Angeles and raised in Ventura County. She earned a B.A. in Psychology from Biola University in Los Angeles and completed her CA Teaching Credential there as well. She has been married since 2007, and has two young sons. She has been teaching at St. Timothy’s since 2008. Mrs. Baquiran loves to spend free time with her family.

Favorite Bible verse: Whoever dwells in the shelter of the most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. Psalm 91:1

 Ali Becker
Ali BeckerSecond Grade Aide, Lunch Supervisor
Mrs. Becker was born in Elmhurst, IL and raised in Santa Clara, CA. Prior to coming to St. Timothy’s, she served as an administrative assistant for 14 years at The Lutheran School of Our Savior. Mrs. Becker was widowed after 38 years of marriage and has two adult children. Some of her many hobbies include reading, sewing, cross stitch, music, dancing, and camping. Ali is also involved in Geocaching, a real-world outdoor treasure hunting game. Players try to locate hidden containers, called geocaches, using GPS-enabled devices and then share their experiences online.

Nancy Cullins
Nancy CullinsJr. Kindergarten
Mrs. Cullins was born in Hawthorn, CA and moved to San Jose at the age of 13. She has been married since 1980, has two married adult children and one grandchild. Mrs. Cullins loves to travel.

Favorite Bible Verse: Have no anxiety about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be known to God. And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, will keep your hearts and your mind in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7

Jodie Oubre
Jodie OubreJK, K. Aide & LEAP Aide
Mrs. Oubre started substitute teaching at St. Tim’s in 2011 and was thrilled to join the St. Tim’s staff full time in 2013, teaching in the JK/K enrichment program, as an aide for JK/K and as a LEAP instructor. Prior to St. Timothy’s she was a substitute teacher for San Jose Unified for 10 years; a product planner at Intel and loved coaching her sons’ baseball and soccer teams with her husband. She has been married since 1988 and has two grown children. In her free time, Jodie loves spending time with her friends and family; hiking, biking, running and being outdoors.

Amy Pederson
Amy PedersonFifth Grade
Mrs. Pederson has taught K-12 at a private parochial school since 1998. After receiving her CA Credential in 2012, she substituted in three districts and two Christian schools, including St. Timothy’s. From 1998-99 Mrs. Pederson was a missionary in Mongolia and taught English at the university. She has strong Biblical training attending a church school, Bethany (Bible) University, and William Jessup (Christian) University for her credential. In 2011 she married Jeff Pederson, who has three young adult children. Her favorite activities are swimming, hiking, and bicycling. She loves to sing in the church contemporary music group. Teaching is her calling, passion, and gives her heart joy. Favorite Bible Verse: “You will seek Me and find Me, when you seek Me with all your heart.” Jeremiah 29:13
Tammy Phillips
Tammy PhillipsJr. Kindergarten
Mrs. Phillips has been a teacher since 1998, and has been at STLS since the 2005-2006 school year. Prior to teaching, Mrs. Phillips owned and operated a Licensed Family Daycare. She was born in Billings, Montana, raised in Santa Clara, and graduated from San Jose State University. Mrs. Phillips has been married since 1981. She has two adult children and two grandchildren. Mrs. Phillips is a strong advocate for Christian education as Lutheran schools have been a huge part of her life. She attended a Lutheran School from 1st through 8th grade, and her children also attended (K – 8th) and graduated from the same Lutheran school. In her spare time, she enjoys decorating, home-improvement projects, cross-word puzzles, and sudoku. Mrs. Phillips enjoys traveling and is trying to visit all 50 states. She has been to 47 states with only 3 left to go.

Erica Valencia
Erica ValenciaFourth Grade
Mrs. Valencia has been teaching since 2008. All of her years have been at St. Timothy’s Lutheran School. She was born in San Francisco, CA, but being a pastor’s daughter, her family relocated several times due to the need of ministers in different areas. Texas and Arizona is where she spent most of her childhood. Mrs. Valencia received her degree and credential from National Hispanic University here in San Jose, CA. She has been married since 2004 and has 3 children which keep her very busy! When she is not teaching, she enjoys traveling, photography, reading, singing, and spending time with her family.

Laurie Vroom
Laurie VroomKindergarten
Mrs. Vroom has been a teacher since 1988 and teaching Kindergarten at St. Timothy’s since 1996. She was born in Merced, CA and has lived most of her life in San Jose, graduating from Leland High School. She attended and received her teaching credential from San Jose State University. Mrs. Vroom has been married since 1982 and has two grown daughters. Both daughters graduated from St. Timothy’s and went on to earn college degrees from Azusa Pacific University and Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, walking and spending time with family and friends. Mrs. Vroom attended a Lutheran Kindergarten as a child. She will never forget the love of Christ she felt there. She believes the Lord led her to teach at St. Tim’s and share Christ’s love with the families of St. Tim’s today.
